Join us as we explore the stories of the Psalms
Service Information:
November 24 • Psalm 142
This week we will wrap up our series Stories of the Psalms. We will be looking at Psalm 142. The title to this Psalm reads A maskil of David. When he was in a cave. A Prayer. This Psalm is a desperate cry for deliverance. Psalm 142 will invite us into a very particular posture before God. Join us Sunday to hear more.
November 17 • Psalm 51
This week we continue our sermon series Stories Of The Psalms. Our practice in this series is to understand the story out of which some Psalms were born, and connect the psalmist's way of prayer to our own stories. Our Scripture reading for this week is Psalm 51. We invite you to reflect on this question: what is an early memory you have of forgiveness? Maybe someone forgave you, or you were asked to forgive someone. What makes that situation so memorable to you? On Sunday we will explore how Psalm 51 meets us at those points in our lives where we come face to face with our inability to repair the damage we’ve done to others and to heal the relationships broken by our actions.
November 10 • Psalm 55
This week we continue our sermon series Stories Of The Psalms.
Our practice in this series is to understand the context and story out of which some Psalms were born, and connect the psalmist's way of prayer to our own stories. Walter Brueggemann categorizes psalms into 3 main categories: Orientation, Disorientation, and Reorientation. In other words, some Psalms speak out of a place of being at peace, others out of a place of disorder, and still others from a place of having the chaos of life re-ordered by God. This week we will explore Psalm 55, a Psalm of disorientation where David felt betrayed by a close friend and confidant.
November 3 • Psalm 18
This week we will be reading from Psalm 18
