This week we continue our short series, Blessed, Broken, Given.

In the liturgical movements of the Lord's Supper, when Jesus blesses, breaks, and gives bread, so are our lives reflected in the same way in the hands of Jesus. This week we explore how the brokenness in our lives is used by Jesus in God's plan for restoration of the world.

June 4 • Colossians 1:19-28

This Sunday, we continue our series on Colossians, a letter of Paul and Timothy to a young and emerging community of believers in the city of Colossae about 30 years after Jesus died, rose, and ascended. Our reading this week is chapter 1:19-28. Although there are several themes in this passage none of them are as prominent as the theme of reconciliation. Together, we’ll learn:

July 9 • Colossians 3:1-17

This Sunday, we are wrapping up our study of the book of Colossians. In a way, we are back to where we started. The book of Colossians begins with Paul sharing how earnestly he prays for the church in Colossae. At the end of this letter, Paul is back to talking about prayer. This talk of prayer is more than a set of tidy bookends to a pastoral letter. These closing words hold perhaps the most practical wisdom in the entire book:

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
